Just another weekend in paradise.
We had a brief but wonderful visit last night with Hadley, John, Charlotte, and baby Jack. Charlotte and Gracie are really starting to develop their own relationship and it’s just so heart-warming to watch. Nothing better than second generation friendships – Charlotte and Julia Sussman are the two obvious daughters-of-dear-friends who are around Grace’s age and with whom I’ve enjoyed observing this dynamic.
Early this morning I went for a terrific run. The moon was a bright sliver in the dark sky when I started and by the time I got home it was bright morning light. Definitely the highlight of this day! Matt worked this morning so I was on single mom duty. We went to soccer, where I spent most of my time chasing Whit around the adjacent playground, unfortunately missing Grace’s FOUR goals during the game. Then the three of us went off to Steve Songs at the Regent Theater. I am a flat-out, full-on Steve groupie. I love his music and can sing along to most songs by heart. Grace was really into it too. The best part was that we randomly wound up sitting behind Emily Frug and Charlie so I got to catch up with Em while the children danced wildly in the aisles. So weird to think that Grace is now at BB&N, the place where I met some of those oldest friends like Emily.
And now it’s naptime – everybody is quiet and I am blissfully alone for a few minutes.

I love my little man:
Was looking at random websites just now with Whit on my lap, and when a picture of Kate Moss came across the screen he shouted: “Wow, that’s you, Mummy!”

I was struck by this streak of pink across the evening sky tonight. Today was one of the most beautiful days I can remember. Somehow this time of year, though, beautiful days are that much more poignant, and streaked (like this sky) with a sense of farewell.

My little guy is really talking now. He has totally started to come into his own personality. I think it is mostly the influence of the magical Lisa Beth and our nursery school’s orange room. He can’t stop talking and he’s mostly very entertaining.
I’m finally feeling 100% after a long week feeling lousy. I need to find some green algae or something to get my immune system back up to snuff since it’s letting me down lately. But I’m back on all cylinders and will even try to run again this week (I can’t remember the last time I took 10 days off). Not tomorrow, with the 7am departure for Providence, but maybe Tuesday.
We had a great morning apple picking at Honey Pot Orchard in Stow with Lily Bryant and her family. Lily was one of Grace’s best friends at her old school and it’s really a joy to see the two of them together. They have such a real and genuine friendship now. I’m sad that they are not in school together but I hope we can keep in touch with them as we’ve been doing so far.
