peace

It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

Quote of the day:

“The trouble with jogging is that the ice falls out of your glass.” – Martin Mull

Had brunch this morning with Bouff and baby Eloise and Shafer and baby Georgie – what a treat to see their baby girls. Gracie came with me and I was struck again by how big and grown up she has become, seemingly overnight. See above: top is Georgie, Gracie, Eloise, and bottom is Grace’s first day of life.

“I lean over, and remember
the first days of our daughter’s life
when I bent double over her cradle
as she slept, my tears odd, wild,
tropical spots on the cot-sheet
I swore to her I’d raise her until in her strength she could leave me.”
