Photo Wednesday 8: hydrangeas at home

This is our front yard.  “Yard” is a euphemism: this gorgeous array of flowers (it’s 3 bushes) takes up about half of the space.  I adore hydrangeas and always have, mostly for their color.  They were the main flower in our wedding decor (with some yellow roses) which is part of my sentimental attachment.  But I have only realized lately that part of the reason I love these flowers so much is that they are the exact same color as the sky at its most saturated, outrageous blue.

Photo Wednesday 6: the Polar Coaster

Pure joy, all day long, at Storyland.  This was our third time, and our visit is now full of traditions: the water park at the hotel, dinner at the Red Parka Pub, Priscilla’s for breakfast, first ride on Bamboo Shoots, and going around and around on the Polar Coaster several times.  I have rarely seen them as happy as they are there.

Photo Wednesday 4: One daughter each

Over Memorial Day, with the other two legs of the stool, swinging at dusk.  These are some of the people I love the very most in the whole world.  We have one daughter each, and these are my two beloved goddaughters.  I remember the moment each of these girls was born – all three of them – and their birthdays and christenings and everything in between.  I remember their mothers before any of us were mothers.  Our five sons are just offstage of this picture, but they get along as well.  These women and their families are an immense, undeserved, wildly appreciated blessing whose importance in my life I cannot fully articulate.
