uninspired

Uninspired lately. Perhaps because my head has been hurting so much. Yuck.

Went to the Peabody Essex Museum today which I highly recommend. The museum had probably the best kids/activity room I’ve ever seen, and the place was totally deserted. Bottom picture is of the children (with Whit in his latest fashion statement) spellbound watching time-lapse photography of the North Pole. There were projects, activities, videos, nature things to touch and listen to and smell, and a ton of Mac computers around with various interactive exhibits. I was struck again by how intuitively Grace approaches a computer. The children had a blast and I highly recommend the place.

Perhaps fittingly, in this temple to the Mac, I dropped my iPhone and the screen fritzed out. Had to go get a new one and this has put me in a fit of guilt re: the expense. Had already had some big Recession Planning conversations this weekend (cut cleaning people back to every other week, cut back on eating out with kids, etc) and the purchase of a new iPhone made me feel awful.

Roasted a chicken for dinner with my mother (and then made stock, as per the recession planning; in the same vein I ground up the two ends of a loaf of bread into breadcrumbs) and made cream of broccoli soup because there was so much broccoli floating around (small detail: I loathe broccoli). Made a coffee cake for breakfast tomorrow with the cousins.

Went for a short and painful run. Posted some stuff on ebay and some other stuff on Craigs List. Kids watched a couple of episodes of Little House on the Prairie which reminded me very much of growing up.

Pretty exciting, no???
