It is surprisingly rare that I know any of the quotes on the “quotes of the day” page that I check daily. And even more unusual – I think this is only the second time – that a dear favorite appears. For all of my passionate (cowardly?) love of other people’s words, I don’t know very many quotations by heart (my pea brain just thumbs my well-worn quote books to find them). This is one of them.
We cross our bridges when we come to them and burn them behind us, with nothing to show for our progress except a memory of the smell of smoke and a presumption that once our eyes watered.
