a banner evening

Allergic reaction to pecans that I put into cookies I baked today. Oh guilty mother!

He started coughing and his chest was rattly and he swelled up and his lips were swollen and then he threw up – doctor on call wanted us to go to Childrens but it was 30 minutes before the start of a Red Sox home game so Mount Auburn it was. He perked up fast with benadryl and was very amenable to the nebulizer. Grace was a good sport through it all too.

The bummer is a nut allergy is not very much fun. We need to go to the allergist and get some tests run but looks like a lot of label reading in my future. I was so excited when Gracie outgrew her dairy allergy because that meant no more of that – whoops. Oh well. In the grand scheme of things I know this is not a big deal! I really do know that. Just not the news you really want to get.

Has been a very long day.

  1. Hi,
Sorry to hear about your son’s nut allergy. That picture brings back memories of my son (19 months now) being on the nebulizer last November. My son has allergies to Soy,Peanuts,Eggs,Wheat and Dairy so I know what a challenge food allergies can be. I started http://www.spewdfree.com to help out others like us. There are lots of great recipes that are free of soy, nuts, eggs, wheat and dairy.
    Thanks,
    Heather
