I stood on a bridge slung low over the lazy river at Legoland’s water park, waiting to photograph them as they floated by. When Whit saw me, he flung his arms out and shouted, “This is paradise!”
I have always particularly loved the lines of our tennis club. I think the curves are very Olmstead-ish and I find the building elegant and evocative. Fun fact: Art history, including architecture, was one of my very favorite subjects in college. In fact I seriously considered writing my thesis jointly on a poet (hd) and a painter (Georgia O’Keeffe).
Last night in Legoland, 2011. I have many thoughts to share on how we can and cannot go back again and on revisiting a place that is mysteriously magical to my children and to me. Thoughts to share later. For now, we are home, a little jet-lagged, a bit waterlogged with the sorrow of something so highly anticipated being over as well, and dazzled by the sparkling brilliance of our many new memories.
